Vehicles are parked right next to your tents, so no heavy carrying of camping equipment is required. All are welcome; it's a very family friendly and dog friendly campsite.

Acton Field Campsite is ideal for camping, walking and cycling with many footpaths and bridle paths close by. It's also ideally placed if you're looking for Swanage festival camping.

Langton Matravers is a small Dorset village in the Purbecks, with stone cottages and some modern dwellings, mostly built with Purbeck stone. Some stone quarries are still operational and provide stone for local use and further afield.

St Georges Church is in the centre of the village and just below is the one remaining pub, The Kings Arms. This is a small public house offering affordable good food and excellent beers.

The campsite offers basic clean facilities - toilets, showers, washing-up sinks, two freezers for ice packs and there is also a chemical disposal point. There is an electric point in the ladies and a shaver socket in the gents and constant hot water. Phone charging booths and some electric hook up points are available, these have to be reserved.

A mobile grocer calls daily during the school holidays selling provisions, papers and doughnuts. The children never forget the experience of running and queuing for "Andy's" van. Dilly's pop-up cafe will be open for breakfast and super (some evenings) during bank holidays and school holidays.

Reviews

The AA.com - July 2018
"A pleasure to vist Acton Field Camping Site and Meet Mrs Murray, this truly is a wonderful site and stunning location which must be much appreciated by so many repeat customers. There is such a refreshing approach here, so much trust involved and a priviledge to see genuine engagement between owners and guests, creating such a welcoming atmosphere. The lack of pitch allocation is also a good way of ensuring satisfaction, leaving the decision making in the hands of the customer. Good onsite facilities the shower/toilet block being well maintained, clean and well presented. The new lodge is a significant advance and enhances first impressions. As a result a classification TWO PENNANTS is retained with a QUALITY SCORE of 80% now appropriate."

"As mentioned in many previous reports if you have a tent this is a must place to camp. The sloping site at first glance looks very uneven but when you explore further many flat pitches can be found. The small facility block is really good for this size of site and is well appointed and very clean. In my opinion the key to this site is to keep it as is - it's what the customers want and love, so why change a winning formula. Brilliant little campsite..." AA site Inspectorate 2017

"Just got back from a 3 night stay here and have to say it's one of the best campsites we've been to so far." AUG 2017

"We stayed at Acton Field in the late part of October, although quite a risk from a weather perspective, we were extremely lucky. The location is absolutely stunning, great facilities and breath-taking walks." Dec 2016

"We found this campsite last summer after 25 years of camping in the Purbecks and wished we had found it earlier!" Sept 2016
